The group stage of the Women's African Cup of Nations (CAN 2022) ended on July 10 with a 4-0 victory for Nigeria over Burundi and a 1-0 victory for South Africa against Botswana. .

The quarter-finals will be Morocco-Botswana, Zambia-Senegal, South Africa-Tunisia and Cameroon-Nigeria.

The winners of these four confrontations will automatically qualify for the next World Cup.

More than just quarter-finals: the next four matches of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations will be direct tickets to the next World Cup, scheduled for July 20 to August 20, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.

The Morocco-Botswana, Zambia-Senegal (July 13) and South Africa-Tunisia, Cameroon-Nigeria (July 14) matches will therefore have a double stake.

Cameroon-Nigeria, a final before the hour

There will probably be a little more also between Cameroonians and Nigerians.

The Indomitable Lionesses have been deprived of the trophy four times by the Super Falcons.

Their meeting is a final before the hour.

South Africa-Tunisia appears more unbalanced between South Africans vice-champions of Africa and Tunisians for whom it is only the second AFCON after that of 2008. The Eagles of Carthage nevertheless had the opportunity to test themselves in the first round against Zambians (0-1) and Cameroonians (0-2).

The moment of truth for Morocco

The Senegalese dream of imitating the Senegalese, winners of the CAN 2021 and qualified for the 2022 World Cup. The Lionesses will not however be favorites against Zambians who remain on a participation in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. Barbra Banda, the Copper Queens are great customers.

For the Moroccans, who will receive the Batswana in front of their audience in Rabat, the pressure will be maximum: by qualifying for the semi-finals of CAN 2022 and the 2023 World Cup, the Atlas Lionesses would indeed consolidate their growing popularity and justify the substantial investments of their federation in women's football...
