"There are many types of gold unearthed in this Tang tomb. These stacked copper coins are from the tombs of the Western Han Dynasty, and they also carry the hemp ropes that wear the coins. They are very well preserved..." The archaeological team stationed in the capital construction archaeological project in the Chengbei area of Xi'an City The reporter met Shao Jing, assistant to the president and research librarian of the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, who was cleaning up the cultural relics unearthed from several archaeological sites recently with the archaeological team.

Not long after, Shao Jing and two young archaeologists rushed to the Dabaozi cemetery site of the basic construction archaeological project in the Chengbei area of Xi'an under the scorching sun.

"In the scorching sun and heavy rain, doing archaeological work is to keep an eye on the front line of the construction site without fear of hardship, so as to train the team." Shao Jing said.

"Mr. Shao has been sticking to the construction site every weekend for the past three years. In December last year, in order to cooperate with the epidemic prevention and control, various communities and units in Xi'an were closed and managed. Mr. Shao came to the archaeological team's station before the closure, and ate and lived with us. It has been more than a month. Under his leadership, the indoor data sorting and the restoration of cultural relics are carried out as usual." said Zhu Yingpei, the executive leader of the archaeological project and an assistant researcher at the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology.

The 37-year-old Shao Jing has been sticking to the front line of the field for many years, and used practical actions to explain the firm belief of sticking to responsibility because of love.

In 2011, in order to cooperate with the construction of the Nangoumen Water Control Project in Yan'an City, Shao Jing, who had just graduated for two years, was appointed as the captain of the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, responsible for the infrastructure construction near Zhaitouhe Village, Huangling County, within the reservoir area. Archaeological excavations.

I thought it was just an ordinary infrastructure archaeological project, but after entering the site, I found out that the entire village had been relocated, and the tombs had been robbed in a serious situation. There were robbery holes everywhere, and they had been stolen in the past month.

"Preliminary exploration reports show that there are only about 20 tombs in the Zhaitou River. The tombs of the Warring States Period were discovered during the excavation of the tombs, and with the progress of the archaeological excavation and clean-up work, the number of tombs discovered gradually increased to more than 100. Shao Jing said that the archaeological funds approved in the early stage seemed to be a drop in the bucket. He reported to the unit to insist on comprehensive archaeological excavations and tried his best to overcome the lack of funds.

After nearly a year of excavation by the archaeological team, a number of rich remains of the Rong people in the Warring States period have been unearthed in the Zhaitouhe Village Warring States Cemetery. The age and nature of the remains provide a more reliable yardstick.

In the end, the Shaanxi Huangling Zhaitouhe Warring States Cemetery was shortlisted for the final list of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country in 2011.

At the beginning of 2012, Shao Jing, who had just finished the archaeological work at the Zhaitouhe Village cemetery, received a new task: to lead the archaeological team directly from Huangling to the mountain on the north side of the Tuwei River in Shimao Village, Gaojiabao Town, Shenmu City, Shaanxi Province. Shimao Ruins.

No road, no water, no electricity, no signal, they lived for several years in a cave not far from the excavation site that had been abandoned for nearly 20 years.

The first thing the team members do every morning when they get up is to go to a town a few kilometers away to pull water.

The temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius in winter cracked the outer casing of the tricycle engine.

Before 2020, Shao Jing worked more than 300 days at the excavation site of Shimao site every year, conducting archaeological excavations during the day and collating materials at night.

"The archaeological discoveries of the Shimao site continue to subvert the academic circle's previous understanding of the development of early Chinese civilization, and it is very important to have cultural confidence in our country." Shao Jing said.

At the end of 2020, the Shimao site was selected by the "Archaeology" magazine as one of the "Top Ten Important Archaeological Discoveries in the World" in the past 10 years, along with new discoveries from Pompeii in Italy, mummification in Egypt, and remote sensing archaeology in Angkor.

In October last year, the Shimao site was selected as one of my country's "Hundred Years of Archaeological Discoveries".

Recently, Shao Jing gave a lecture entitled "Shimao Archaeology and the Origin of Civilization" at the first "Taixing Forum" hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics and undertaken by the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology (Shaanxi Archaeological Museum).

"I have never regretted choosing the front line of archaeology, choosing one thing for the rest of my life, and sticking to the responsibility is the belief of archaeologists." Shao Jing said that his achievements are due to this.
