[Explanation] Since the beginning of summer, the ancient city of Xi'an has encountered a high temperature "baking" test.

According to data from the Xi'an Meteorological Observatory, since July this year, the city has issued red warning signals for high temperature several times, and the highest temperature in many areas has risen above 40°C.

The continuous high temperature has caused many people to repeatedly ask, "Is Xi'an so hot before", "Why is it so hot this year", and "What precautions should be taken in high temperature weather".

　　According to Jin Lina, senior engineer of Xi'an Ecological and Agricultural Meteorological Center, the average temperature in Xi'an in June 2022 was 27.5°C, which was 2.1°C higher than the same period in previous years, which was the highest value for the same period in history since meteorological records began.

The daily maximum temperature during the same period in history from July 1 to 7 of the past year was 40.6 ℃, and the maximum temperature in the same period this year has not yet exceeded the historical extreme value.

Specifically, the rapid development of high temperature since June this year was mainly affected by the eastward-moving high pressure ridge in the middle and high latitudes. The sinking air flow caused the warming effect, so that our cold air was weak and precipitation was weak. Few processes, coupled with the influence of our short-wave solar radiation during the day, the dry atmosphere, and the warming of the ground, these factors are a major factor that caused our temperature to be high during this period.
