Jordan is close to preserving the ownership of Mansaf .. and inclusion on the World Heritage List!

The Jordanian Permanent Mission to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" submitted the file of inscribing Mansaf on the List of Intangible World Heritage this year.

The Jordanian Embassy in Paris held an artistic and cultural evening, in the presence of a number of ambassadors, accredited diplomats and representatives of the French government.

The evening, which was attended by a number of members of the House of Representatives during an official working visit to France, included a concert and dinner in honor of the attendees, during which the Jordanian mansaf was presented, in preparation for its inclusion on the list of intangible world heritage during the current year, after completing the Jordanian request for all the technical conditions required by " UNESCO".

The Jordanian Permanent Mission to UNESCO had submitted the file of inclusion of “Mansaf: a festive feast and its social and cultural implications” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” 2022, during the Kingdom’s participation in the seventeenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee To safeguard the intangible cultural heritage.

The efforts of the Jordanian Permanent Mission to UNESCO to include Mansaf on this international list came after coordination and joint and extended work in which many Jordanian ministries and agencies participated.

This trend comes as the Mansaf dish has social and cultural connotations for Jordanians, and as a form of intangible cultural expression of Jordanian food habits, which is also reflected in the Jordanian national cultural identity.

In this context, the Jordanian ambassador to France, Makram Al-Qaisi, said that Jordan has the right to preserve the ownership of the original mansaf, in line with the efforts made by countries to preserve its symbols with cultural and social connotations for future generations.
