Aix Festival: "Woman at Point Zero", feminist world premiere

It's time for the resurrection of one of the greatest manifestations of lyrical art in the world.

After two years dominated by the Covid, the 74th Festival d'Aix-en-Provence in the south of France is taking its revenge with 10 operas on the bill, including two world premieres.

One of them,

, chronicles the life of an Egyptian woman sentenced to death for killing a pimp.

Based on the shocking story of Nawal el-Saadawi, a politician and writer committed to the feminist cause in Egypt, this true story from the 1970s is brought to the stage of the Pavillon Noir by a team of women who signed the libretto, composition, direction in staging and production of this poignant work.

The premiere takes place this Sunday, July 10.
