Chinese expensive ice cream does not melt and customers are skeptical!

A new Chinese food product is taking over social media by being advertised as the world's only ice cream that doesn't melt.

And videos posted online of the ice cream circulated in which people use lighters and even a blowing torch to try to melt the ice cream stick.

None of the heat sources had any effect on the candy that could withstand an open flame or even an hour in a room temperature of 31 degrees Celsius, prompting customers to demand to know what was inside.

One of them asked on social media: “What could be so powerful?”

Another wrote: "I wonder if it will melt in your stomach."

Another said: "They added flame retardants to the ice cream - no wonder it costs so much."

Others demanded to know: "What is there?"

The company, called Chicecream, markets its new invention as an "authentic Chinese ice cream lollipop."

One stick costs around £8.20.

The company said an additive derived from seaweed - carrageenan gum - allowed the ice cream to keep its shape.

"We believe it is not my knowledge to judge the quality of ice cream by drying or heating the ice cream," she added.

The company added that "all types of ice cream are produced in accordance with national standards."

She explained, "Carrageenan gum and milk proteins help maintain the stability of the substance."

And in 2019, the company was fined £1,120 for false advertising about its ingredients.
