Several sectors of Savoie were placed on enhanced drought alert this Wednesday.

These are territories of the Savoyard foreland, the watersheds of Guiers, Lac du Bourget, Chéran and the Combe de Savoie, indicates the prefecture.

Since the second half of June, the high temperatures and too little rainfall have led to the continuous decline of the beginnings of the rivers.

These are very low in the west of the department, as are the groundwater levels.

Filling of swimming pools and watering of vegetable gardens prohibited

As the weather for the next few days promises to be hot and dry, restrictions on water use have been put in place in several territories.

It is now prohibited to take direct samples from watercourses or underground resources for domestic use.

The washing of vehicles is prohibited, outside the washing station, as is the filling of private swimming pools.

Watering lawns, vegetable gardens and green spaces is also prohibited.

These provisions will remain in force until September 15 at the latest.
