On July 6, the first batch of admission notices of Nankai University in 2022 were officially sent out.
At this moment, these admission notices are carrying the earnest expectations of all teachers, students and alumni, across the mountains and seas, towards the 2022 class of new Nankai people, and will lead them to start a new learning journey.
This year, along with the admission notice for the Master and Ph.D., there are also two special "new students' gifts": two lotus seeds and a "mountain and sea" bookmark.
This is also Nankai's "first lesson" for all freshmen.
Two lotus seeds, I hope that one of the freshmen will stay in their hometown and not forget their original aspirations; the other will bring the campus to witness their growth.
This year's two lotus seeds are of special significance. They come from Shaoxing, the ancestral home of Premier Zhou Enlai, an outstanding alumnus of Nankai University.
The gift of Shaoxing lotus seeds to Nankai "freshmen" is the spiritual connection between the first batch of Nankai University students and the 103rd freshmen over a century. It is hoped that Nankai students can follow the example and disposition as adults, take the legacy of the sages as the goal, care for the people, and make contributions.
All the donated lotus seeds are collected by Nankai Zhejiang alumni from farmers' homes in Shaoxing, which bears the earnest expectations of Nankai alumni.
