The Arab Reading Challenge in its sixth session, Sham Muhammad Al-Bakour (first-grade student at Sobhi Daya School), was crowned a champion at the level of Syria among 61 thousand and 99 students who represented their country during her first participation in the largest reading demonstration of its kind in the world in Arabic.
During the closing ceremony of the Arab Reading Challenge at the Syrian level, the Martyrs’ Girls’ School from the Damascus Learning District won the first place in the “Distinguished School” category. The Martyr Ghazi Debs Secondary School from As-Suwayda Educational District ranked second, and the First Sharia Secondary School for Girls in Aleppo Educational District ranked third.
In the “Outstanding Supervisor” category, Haneen Abdullah won first place, Muhammad Dahdouh won second place, and Shams Al-Assaad won third place.
The sixth session of the Arab Reading Challenge set a record, the largest since the start of the challenge, as 22.27 million students participated in reading and summarizing Arabic books through integrated experiences that included the use of print media and modern technical means.
The schools participating in the challenge were distributed to 44 countries around the world in a distinctive interactive atmosphere, with the return of attendance activities after two years of virtual establishment due to the health requirements imposed by the Corona pandemic.
The Minister of Education in Syria, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, congratulated all the winners and participants in the Arab Reading Challenge from Syrian students, praising what Mohammed bin Rashid’s global initiatives have offered in order to restore the Arabic language to its civilized status and its role in human communication and knowledge-making.
He said, “The transformation of the Arabic language into a global language was associated with Damascus, which for centuries was the metropolis of the world and the capital of the world. emerging.”
