The new Ile-de-France tramway line T13 makes its grand debut this Wednesday.

It offers a connection between the north and the south of the Yvelines department and allows users to avoid having to go through Paris.

The work lasted five years and required the opinion of the architects of the Buildings of France in order not to distort the environment.

The surroundings of the castles of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Versailles (Yvelines) were particularly sensitive, explains

Le Parisien

.

Vegetated palisades and specific materials were particularly necessary.

30,000 trees have also been replanted to compensate for those felled in the grounds of the Château de Saint-Germain.

30 hectares of land have been acquired in order to recreate caves for bats hunted by the works.

Prefer the tram to the car

The stated objective is to encourage Ile-de-France residents to leave the car in the garage.

The T13 will connect Saint-Germain-en-Laye to Saint-Cyr (Yvelines) in thirty minutes.

Future improvements are expected in terms of noise and frequency of trams.
