A bamboo bicycle has become a symbol of diplomatic rapprochement between Indonesia and Australia, after a recent meeting between the two countries' leaders, and put its Indonesian maker in the spotlight.
When Indonesian President Joko Widodo welcomed Australia's new prime minister, Anthony Albanese, last month, he presented him with the eco-friendly bike, designed by Sengeh Susilo Kartono.
The Indonesian president is known for giving gifts of bicycles, and he is also a fan of Speedagi, and bought one for personal use in 2015. Anthony Albanese showed his happiness with the bike, and confirmed that he would use the "only bamboo bike" in the Australian capital.
