Producers gathered in Yurihama Town, Tottori Prefecture, where July 4th is designated as "Pear Day" by combining numbers, and prayed for a good harvest.

On the 4th, a Shinto ritual was held in front of an old 20th century pear tree called "Hundred Year Tree" in Yurihama Town, which was attended by about 20 people including producers and representatives of JA.

In the Shinto ritual, after the priest gave a congratulatory speech, the participants offered a tamagushi and prayed for a good harvest.

According to JA Tottori Chuo, this year's Nijisseiki Pear is growing well because it was blessed with good weather without being hit by a major disaster, and shipping is scheduled to begin from the end of next month.

Masaaki Terachi, director of JA Tottori Chuo Togo Fruit Department, said, "I'm worried about water shortages, but I took a break from the rain yesterday. I want to deliver sweet and delicious pears to consumers."
