Survival stuck in a rocky rift despite staying 7 days without food

An Italian man survived after seven days without food and very little water, after falling into a rocky crevice on Mount Matajor near the Slovenian border.

The 31-year-old Italian said, in statements to the Italian newspaper, Correira della Sera, that after he was found and retrieved by the rescue teams on Saturday, he now feels well on Sunday.

The young man was hiking alone a week ago when he fell into the rift, losing his backpack containing his mobile phone and some supplies.

He reported that while he only sustained minor injuries after falling, he was unable to climb out of the crack.

The 30-year-old managed to survive by relying on water from a small river stream, after a thunderstorm.
