Coming soon... Avatar on WhatsApp

Tech Radar said that the WhatsApp application will add avatars, following in the footsteps of other messaging applications with the spread of this feature within the idea of the virtual world of Metaverse.

According to a new report published by WABetaInfo, which is interested in the latest WhatsApp news, the world's number one messaging application will add the avatar, and the report showed that the feature under development will work during video calls.

It is clear from video footage published by the source that the user interface in video calls has been modified to include a new button at the bottom under the video.

The report said that the feature is not currently activated and that it is still in the early development stage.

It was also reported that the app will get an additional section called “Avatar Editor” or it may be called “Avatar Editing” that will allow the use of avatars as a sticker in chats, the same feature available in the Instagram application owned by the same parent company, Meta, which it added there recently.

It can be speculated that the feature may work similarly to what Apple calls Animoji.

And since the leading and modern iPhones are equipped with a facial recognition sensor, WhatsApp can take advantage of it and create an avatar on its platform as well, and for Android phones, WhatsApp will have to rely entirely on the front cameras in those phones.

iPhone users can create their own Memoji groups when setting up their avatar on their phones, and these are also available on WhatsApp through the stickers section, but none of them can be used on the web or desktop version.

Meta seems to be very determined with the idea of Metaverse and its virtual world, considering it to be the future of online gatherings and social networking.

But Meta should have plans to make it easier for users to manage their avatars in one app or one environment, and that environment could be Facebook.

The user can create multiple avatars for different applications and make them basic and automatic as well.

The experiment should be complete once the feature makes its way to the desktop application as well.
