In January, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office said on the 1st of an 18-year-old former high school student who was sent back from a family court because a criminal punishment was appropriate in a case where three people including an examinee were cut in front of the gate of the University of Tokyo. He was charged with attempted murder.

An 18-year-old ex-boy who attended a private high school in Nagoya City was 17 years old. He was arrested for being injured by slashing at the university, and was subsequently sent for inspection for spraying liquid such as ethanol in the train of Tokyo Metro just before the incident.

The ex-student was sent to the Nagoya Family Court in May, but was sent back to the public prosecutor's office in June, saying that "it is a serious case that is life-threatening and criminal punishment is appropriate."

In response to this, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office charged a former student with attempted murder and obstruction of power work on the 1st.

Former students will now be subject to criminal trials just like adults.
