Radio stations and social media play a melodious melody on Yemeni Song Day

As much as the Yemenis were eager to return to peace and restore the sources of happiness in their lives with the establishment of July 1 as the day of the Yemeni song last year, the occasion came for the second year in a row, carrying many melodies through electronic spaces and little action.

Since the early hours of the morning, there have been posts on social media that recall from memory the songs and photos of the great Yemeni singers and composers, whose works echoed them in various aspects of "Happy Yemen", and some local radio stations and television channels broadcast their famous songs.

These posts received a great interaction from users, both from inside and outside Yemen, and the comments were divided between talking about art and beautiful wishes for the return of peace, and between war and its consequences.

Online news websites have also allocated spaces to publish reports and articles on Yemeni song icons such as Ahmed Obaid Qatabi, Muhammad Juma Khan, Muhammad Murshid Naji, Muhammad Saad Abdullah, Ali bin Ali al-Ansi, Muhammad Hammoud al-Harthy and Amal Kaadl.

The Yemeni song has a poetic and melodic rhythmic peculiarity that enhances the presence of its distinct voices in various colors, such as Al-San’ani, Al-Hadrami, Al-Tohamy, Al-Tazi, Al-Adani, Al-Lahji and others.

Researchers believe that all these colors emanated from one source, but the diversity of rhythms from one region to another resulted in a chromatic diversity in melody and performance, which was reflected in diversity in the dances, as each region has its own rhythms, dances and songs.

The Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, told Reuters, "The celebration of the Yemenis with the interaction and interest in the Yemeni song on an annual occasion for the second year in a row confirms the extent of Yemenis' adherence to their identity and their civilizational and cultural heritage and the abundant and diverse art rooted in history, rejecting the fierce campaign launched by the Houthi movement against art and artists, and prevented them from holding musical concerts in their areas of control in the north of the country.”
