A high-fat diet for diabetes control and liver health

A new study finds that a low-carb, high-fat diet improves diabetes control and improves liver health.

The first and most comprehensive research study on a low-carb, high-fat diet in patients with type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease was conducted in Denmark for a period of six months.

"I want to tell you that if you have fat on your liver, you will benefit from eating fat," said Dr. Camilla Dalby-Hansen.

According to "Sky News Arabia".

Study participants lost nearly 6% of their body weight, improved diabetes control, and decreased liver fat percentage.

The diet included vegetables, but foods rich in carbohydrates, such as bread, potatoes, rice or pasta, were excluded.

It was recommended that healthy fats obtained from olive oil and avocados, for example, be avoided, and foods that cause high levels of harmful cholesterol in the body, such as fast food, should be avoided.

"These findings may give patients more options in the future so that they can choose for themselves what suits their lifestyle," Hans said.
