• Faced with the resurgence of positive cases, Christian Estrosi announced new actions in the metropolitan council on Monday morning.

  • Among other things, the reactivation of screening centers but also the intensification of the communication campaign to encourage people to be vaccinated.

The figures for the viral circulation of Covid-19 are constantly increasing in France and the Alpes-Maritimes are not spared.

The incidence rate, the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reaches almost 600. A “very high” and “very sharply increasing” indicator, as the regional health agency (ARS) Paca pointed out last week.

Faced with this observation, Christian Estrosi, president of the Nice Côte d'Azur metropolis, made new announcements in the metropolitan council this Monday morning.

Among them, the possibility of “reactivating” the vaccinodrome of the Nice Exhibition Center if “the government were to impose a systematic recall for the entire population”.

It is already possible to carry out its booster doses, with or without an appointment, at the Hancy vaccination center in Nice.

And to intensify awareness of vaccination, "a communication campaign on the scale of the metropolis will be deployed".

More screening centers before the start of the school year

Even if the number of screenings increases, +21% in one week, "too many are our fellow citizens who, thinking they are safe or because of a worrying regression in the screening offer, give up getting tested and therefore to isolate themselves to break the chains of contamination ”, according to Christian Estrosi.

He then pushes to go get tested and will strengthen the means to do so in the middle of the summer because "scientists announce a new peak in the epidemic in early August", according to the metropolis.

Thus, the environmental health security and risk management agency will “reactivate the screening centers and in particular the saliva screenings for children from August 3 in the premises of rue Saint François de Paule / rue Max Gallo.

“The week of August 29, before the start of the school year, ephemeral screening centers will be multiplied in Nice.
