After the prefecture gave the green light to cull the deer in question, fifteen individuals were killed.

Genetic tests should confirm that it was indeed the Japanese deer, recognizable by their spotted coat, which had taken to their heels.

In the area where the deer lived before their escape, the other individuals are being sterilized.
