The star of the "Aquaman" movie series, Jason Momoa, called on the world, the day before yesterday, to act to protect marine resources, on the eve of the launch of a United Nations conference in Lisbon focused on protecting the oceans.

Momoa's statement came, during a meeting held near Lisbon, in which about 100 young people of different nationalities participated, to discuss measures to enhance and accelerate efforts to protect the oceans.

Momoa said, "The oceans need our help... and we must strive to correct the mistakes that we have caused. Our world will not remain as we know it in the absence of healthy oceans."

Jason Momoa, who is famous for his role as a superhero of the sea, participated in the closing session of the Youth and Innovation Forum, which was held the day before yesterday, at Carcavelos Beach, 20 kilometers from Lisbon.

Momoa and the participants from different countries were joined by Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Portuguese United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who condemned the slowness of political officials in taking decisions related to ocean protection.

The conference, which will run until July 1 in the Portuguese capital, will be attended by heads of state, government representatives, company officials, leaders of non-governmental organizations and a group of scientists, with the aim of holding discussions and proposing solutions that would protect the oceans.
