New hot spot of tension between Moscow and the West: the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, on the Baltic Sea, is increasingly isolated by Western sanctions.

Moscow promised, on June 21, “ 

serious

 ” reprisals against Lithuania, which prohibits Moscow from transferring certain goods by rail.

Kaliningrad, in recent years, has become a military stronghold, a Russian island within Europe and NATO.

But it is also for Moscow, a real money pit.
