On the afternoon of June 25, in Lanzhou, Gansu, a heavy rain fell on the streets and alleys of the city, bringing a brief coolness to the high temperature in the past few days.

The Yellow River, which has been showing a "green" appearance in the past few days, has gradually recovered its "true color" under the heavy rain.

So why did the Yellow River in the past few days have a "green" face?

It is understood that from January to June this year, the precipitation in the basin above the Lanzhou section of the main stream of the Yellow River was less than in previous years, the precipitation in the upper basin was insufficient, and less sediment was carried into the Yellow River, so the color of the water body naturally became a cyan that reflects the clarity of the water body.

After a cool heavy rain, the precipitation increased, and the "Yellow River's true color" was gradually restored.
