The Emirati creator, Jawaher Al-Khayal, is inspired by her designs from various pieces of furniture, and from her connection to her roots and her pride in them, she was able to launch her products to horizons that go beyond the local environment through cooperation with international bodies and institutions.

Jawaher said at the beginning of her dialogue with "Emirates Today" that her work in the field of design came from her love and passion for art. Organized professional to practice her hobby, and turn it into a field of work.

She added: “My heritage works are part of the products that I design based on reusing and formulating heritage vocabulary and topics in a modern way without compromising the identity of heritage, which gives designs their privacy, makes them close to the tastes of adults as well as new generations, and reconnects them with heritage, which contributes to strengthening The status of heritage in the hearts of young people and future generations, as well as introducing the world to the unique vocabulary of this heritage that is able to continue despite time.

Vision

Jawaher Al-Khayal expressed her pride in many of the designs she presented, some of which came in cooperation with local and international bodies and institutions, most notably the French Jewelery House, Piaget, which was chosen to design a piece of art for display at the House’s exhibition at Art Dubai in its 2018 session, in cooperation with the Cultural Office. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as part of the “Bright Side of Life” project, presented a design entitled “Summer Muse”, noting her pride in the design of the youth center located in the Emirates Towers in Dubai, and it is one of the best youth centers In the world, in addition to designing many high-end restaurants and cafes in the country.

And she continued: "The (Sarab) collection is also one of the most prominent pieces that it presented, which is home furnishings inspired by the Emirati heritage with modern touches, and presented for the first time at Dubai Design Week in 2019, and it clearly expresses my vision of how to employ Emirati nature and heritage in a style. And about her participation with the House of Craftsmen of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, in the activities of the fifth edition of the International Biennale of Art and Crafts Professions, in Paris 2022, which was organized from the ninth to the 12th of this June, she said: “I had the honor to participate with The House of Craftsmen at the Biennale, as I presented a design for tables inspired by the Emirati heritage, in which I combined palm fronds with camel skins, in addition to (stanless steel), and the design and implementation of these tables took about six months.

She pointed out that this participation is not her first with the House of Craftsmen, as she previously participated in a design for a display table at Qasr Al Hosn, and also participated in another artwork that was shown at the Qasr Al Hosn Festival in 2021, considering that participation in international exhibitions, such as "Art Dubai" and “Downtown Design” adds a lot to its experience by looking at the work of others and getting to know closely the ideas and works of the designers and artists participating in these exhibitions from around the world.

She stressed: "All of this results in a greater maturity of the artistic experience, which must be constantly and continuously developed."

The designer, Jawaher Al Khayal, specialized in interior design, and was keen to gain experience in interactive arts.

She graduated from Zayed University in Dubai in 2016, and also obtained a degree in Lighting Design from Chelsea College of Art in London, and Furniture Design from Central Saint Martins, and has permanent collaborations with art projects for the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Youth Bureau, and the District Dubai Design, the House of Artisans in Abu Dhabi.
