Is Dua Lipa a repeat copyright infringement offender?

In any case, this is what photographer Robert Barbera says, while the singer posted photos taken by him on her Instagram account.

The facts date back to 2018 and according to the New York photographer, she would have, without her authorization, shared on the network these images representing her, but on which she had no rights.

"Without permission or authorization from the plaintiff, the defendant willfully selected, copied, stored and displayed each of the plaintiff's copyrighted photographs," reads the complaint, relayed by Billboard.

Beneficial offense?

The photographer also believes that by taking his photo, Dua Lipa promoted his music and at the same time "ruined" the potential of the image, which could not in fact not be resold.

“The infringement increased traffic on the account and allowed the defendant to realize an increase in revenue generated by her promotional events and the sale of her musical works,” the complaint adds.

The agents of Dua Lipa did not wish to react to this new complaint, specifies the publication, which indicates that the efforts of the photographer to contact the artist were in vain.

A first complaint, filed last year against Dua Lipa by the company Integral Images, was dismissed in October.

Robert Barbera is known to sue the stars who use his photos on their social networks, including Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber in 2019. The singer had managed to get rid of the complaints, while the Canadian artist had preferred to settle the case amicably.
