San Sebastian will celebrate the career of a cinema legend.

David Cronenberg, who returns with a very audacious new film,

Les Crimes du Futur

, will receive the Donostia Prize at the 70th edition of the festival.

The ceremony will take place on September 21 at the Victoria Eugenia Theater, before a screening of his latest feature film, in which Viggo Mortensen, Kristen Stewart and Léa Seydoux play.

The last-born of the Canadian has also caused a lot of talk on the Croisette, some spectators preferring to leave the room before the end (or even quickly after the start…), while others gave him a standing ovation at the end. of the official screening.

Second time

David Cronenberg is not really a regular in San Sebastián, since he was officially programmed only once at the Spanish ceremony: in 2007, with his film

The Promises of Shadow

.

“A master of biological horror, disturbing atmospheres and a universe as personal as it is intransmissible, Cronenberg has directed some twenty feature films, including works considered today as classics of genres such as science fiction, horror, psychological drama and thriller,” reads the festival website.

He will not be the only one to be honored this year since Saint-Sébastien will also award the Donostia prize to French actress Juliette Binoche.

Other winners of this award in recent years include Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, Oliver Stone, Agnès Varda, Hirokazu Koreeda and Costa-Gavras.
