Seine-Saint-Denis has set up a caravan against discrimination since Wednesday to raise public awareness on this subject, reports France Bleu Paris.

"Often in Seine-Saint-Denis and in particular young people are victims of an accumulation of discrimination... and many people consider that it is like that, 'I'm used to it, I deal with it'"

explained to our colleagues Oriane Filhol, departmental adviser in charge of the fight against discrimination.

During this round, the agents of the department therefore redirect the victims to associations or structures so that they take the plunge.

They can even advise them to go to court.

On its website, the Department specifies that delegates of the Defender of Rights will ensure hotlines for victims and witnesses of discrimination wishing to take steps.

Associations specialized in this field will also be present.

63% of residents of Seine-Saint-Denis discriminated against

Seventeen towns in the department will be visited until July 13, notably Villepinte, Pantin, La Courneuve, and even Saint-Ouen.

The next stage is scheduled for Saturday in Montreuil and Romainville.

In 2021, the Department created the Discrimination and Equality Observatory.

At the time, he commissioned a study from the Harris-Interactive Institute: 63% of respondents believed they had been victims of acts of discrimination in the past five years compared to 56% in 2019. The three main causes were: origin or skin color, religion, and neighborhood of residence.
