The payment rate of national pension premiums for self-employed people last year was 73.9%, surpassing the previous year for 10 consecutive years.

On the other hand, the number of people who were fully exempted or deferred from paying insurance premiums reached a record high of 6.12 million, partly due to the impact of the new Corona.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the payment rate of national pension premiums last year (3rd year of Reiwa) increased by 2.4 points from the previous year to 73.9%, surpassing the previous year for 10 consecutive years.

Looking at this by age group, ▽ 55 to 59 years old was the highest at 80%, and ▽ 25 to 29 years old was the lowest at 62.1%.

On the other hand, the number of people who were fully exempted or deferred from paying insurance premiums increased by 30,000 from the previous year to 6.12 million, the highest number since 1986 when the current system started.

This seems to be due to the fact that special measures such as exemption from payment have been taken for those whose income has decreased due to the influence of the new Corona.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare says, "We would like to make efforts to further improve the payment rate by informing the younger generation and nonpayers and publicizing them. We would like to continue to encourage people affected by the new corona to use special measures." ..
