President Emmanuel Macron's speech on Wednesday evening, where he spoke for the first time since losing his absolute majority in the legislative elections, brought together 15.5 million people across all channels, Médiamétrie said on Thursday.

This total of 15.5 million viewers (who watched the speech on TF1, France 2, M6, TMC and the non-stop news channels BFMTV, CNews, LCI and franceinfo) corresponds to a figure of 74% audience, according to Médiamétrie.

A lower score than last March

The Head of State spoke to the French for 8 minutes, after having completed his tour de table of political forces on Wednesday, in search of a difficult consensus in the National Assembly and before being caught up in a series international commitments, including the European Council from Thursday in Brussels.

By way of comparison, more than 21 million viewers on all channels had followed Emmanuel Macron's speech on the war in Ukraine on March 3 after the Russian invasion, for an audience share of 82.6%.
