Faced with the rise in the price of school supplies, the Federation of Parents' Councils (FCPE) is asking for a revaluation of the back-to-school allowance (ARS) and its payment from "the beginning of July".

"It is necessary and essential" to deal with inflation, said the secretary general of the FCPE, Eric Labastie, guest on franceinfo on Tuesday.

The price of supplies is currently on the rise.

“Prices can vary by 10% to 40% depending on the supplies,” explained the secretary general of the FCPE.

The same for school catering: "we suspect an increase of 5% to 10%, which is very important for some families".

A payment in early July claimed

At the same time, the FCPE wishes to conduct “a reflection on the payment of the allowance so that it is as suitable as possible and that purchases are made as soon as possible”.

Traditionally paid at the end of August, the first Federation of parents of students would like it to be paid now at the beginning of July.

As a reminder, this allowance is 376.98 euros for children aged 6 to 10, 397.78 euros for 11-14 year olds and 411.56 euros for adolescents aged 15 to 18.
