The Swedish Arts Council has previously distributed approximately 4.5 billion in crisis support to help the cultural industry during the pandemic.

An additional 663 million is now being distributed to 1203 actors to give the culture an extra boost and help the audience find their way back.

Broadened participation, digitalisation initiatives and the project aimed at children and young people have been prioritized by the 2013 applications received by the Swedish Arts Council.

- Children and young people may have sat at home very much during the pandemic with their phones and toads, and may now need to be approached by cultural life, says Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Swedish Arts Council.

The restart grant is thus intended to secure future projects and jobs.

At the beginning of the week, Kulturnyheterna reported on a report which showed that about a quarter have not returned to consuming culture in physical places at all.

A quarter state that they have completely returned to how they consumed culture before the pandemic.
