At least Florian V.'s defense attorney is not surprised at the end of the first day of the trial.

The statement that the lawyers of the co-defendant Andreas S. have just read out "was predictable in almost every detail".

Nevertheless, he rates them as "clumsy".

In the statement, Andreas S. mainly blamed Florian V. for the fatal shots at two police officers in the Kusel district, for which he has had to answer before the Kaiserslautern district court since Tuesday, citing self-defense – and thus presenting a completely different version of what happened than before the prosecutor.

Among other things, the 39-year-old Andreas S. is accused of murdering two police officers on January 31 who had stopped him and Florian V. as part of a traffic check.

In doing so, he wanted to cover up the poaching he and V. had previously committed and ensure that he could sell the game he had killed for a profit as planned.

The public prosecutor's office therefore cites greed as a characteristic of murder.

The picture she sketches of S. is that of a ruthless human being with no respect for any form of life – regardless of whether it is human or animal.

Accordingly, S. and V. were out and about in the Kusel district on the night of January 31, as before, to hunt fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar there without the knowledge of the tenant and without a hunting license.

while s

found the animals with a thermal imaging camera and shot them, it was V.'s job to collect the killed animals and bring them to the transporter.

S. is said to have subsequently sold the animals on his own account, V. received a premium of ten euros per animal.

The 29-year-old police officer sends a radio message

Shortly after four o'clock in the morning, according to the public prosecutor's office, a police patrol noticed Andreas S.'s parked van. At that time, the two had already killed 22 deer and loaded them into the car.

When officers spotted the animals in the vehicle, the 29-year-old officer radioed to report suspected poaching.

His 24-year-old colleague is said to have stood next to the vehicle with the two accused in the meantime.

S. is said to have finally gone to the driver's door under a pretext, grabbed a shotgun lying there and shot the officer "suddenly and from a short distance" in the head.

At 4:19 a.m., her colleague made an emergency call with the words “they are shooting”.

According to the indictment, S. meanwhile fired in his direction, initially injuring his hip.

Finally, with three more shots from a hunting rifle, he hit the officer fleeing to the field, who returned fire but did not hit S.

He is said to have then searched the dead man for his papers, which he had already given him, reloaded the shotgun and also searched the officer who was lying on the ground.

When he noticed that she was still alive, he is said to have shot her in the head.

V. had turned the car in the meantime.

On the run, however, the duo got stuck a little later and had a friend tow them away.
