The Seven Hills Organization for Social Development, based in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, won the Sharjah International Award for Advocacy and Support for Refugees 2022, which is organized by the Big Heart Foundation, the global humanitarian organization concerned with helping and supporting refugees and the needy around the world, based in Sharjah.

The sixth cycle of the award, with a value of 500,000 dirhams, was chosen by the “Seven Hills” organization, for its pioneering role in developing creative empowerment programs to integrate refugee youth in Jordan, by providing various creative activities that rely on transforming unused public space into creative spaces. Safe and innovative serving refugees in those areas and the host community, in initiatives that promote creative and recreational development, and the integration of refugees with their peers.

The "Seven Hills" was chosen to win the award among 177 nominees from 39 countries around the world, and the official award ceremony will be held on the 27th of this month, at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

The organization has implemented a number of projects, including an initiative related to preparing special areas for skateboarding, and training children and adolescents in it, in a recreational development step in which it works to enhance the psychological and moral aspect of the refugees there, in addition to non-formal education initiatives, which target different age groups of children. Young people and parents.

She added: "The Seven Hills Organization has played a pivotal role in promoting community development in the rich cultural environment of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which hosts more than 750,000 refugees, in addition to consolidating social ties between people of different nationalities, cultures and social groups. The development and recreational programs developed by the organization contribute in response to the urgent need for safe creative spaces;

By improving the lives of refugees from more than 10 different nationalities, and upgrading their reality, as the programs enhance opportunities for young people to interact with the principles of freedom, self-reliance and solidarity with others.”

Al Hammadi continued: “The Big Heart Foundation celebrates humanitarian organizations and institutions with creative ideas and programmes, and perhaps the most important characteristic of (the Seven Hills) is its focus on culture, the role of youth in achieving social development, and consolidating the values ​​of cooperation and partnership between different groups, as the organization helps them determine their useful options. It is useful for them and their societies by providing work to fill their spare time, thus avoiding exposure to negative culture and bad feelings that may form due to their isolation from their environment and alienation from their surroundings. Social change begins with the upgrading of youth culture.”

"7 Hills" was founded by a group of young people, led by Muhammad Zakaria (skater and photographer), and in 2014 the organization established the Seven Hills Ski Park in Amman, after their success in converting an unused area into an integrated ski park of 650 sq. square meters, within less than three weeks, in cooperation with the Amman municipality, which chose an area in a safe area in the city center, and with the participation of a group of local and international volunteers.
