On June 14, the "Parent-Child Makeshift Cabin" located in the Shanghai New International Expo Center's makeshift hospital was officially closed after the last batch of parent-child families were sent away.

65 medical staff from National Children's Medical Center (Shanghai) and Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Children's Center") finally ushered in a rest time 78 days after the opening of the "Parent-Child Cabin". .

A reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily interviewed medical staff and parents who had been escorted and quarantined in the shelter in the live broadcast room of Warm One Square.

"I deal with all kinds of children every day, and I will respond to every request and call." Hu Renjie, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the Shanghai Children's Center and a cardiothoracic surgeon, told reporters that the nurse desk of the "parent-child shelter" may be the busiest in the entire shelter hospital. Every one or two minutes, a child would come and look for Da Bai to see if the painting was beautiful, and he cautiously asked Da Bai for a small cookie and candy to eat.

"The atmosphere is harmonious and each other is happy." Hu Renjie said.

"The child had a fever at the beginning, and my nucleic acid test was negative. I must be in the cabin to accompany me." When the mother of 10-year-old boy Lele (pseudonym), Ms. Li, accompanied her child to the Shanghai Children's Center in early April, the child confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus.

At the press conference on the prevention and control of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic in Shanghai held on April 4, the issue of accompanying infants and young children infected with the new coronary pneumonia virus aroused social attention.

Wu Qianyu, a first-level inspector of the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, said that for some children with special needs, guardians can voluntarily apply, and they can accompany them after fully understanding the possible health risks and signing the letter of commitment.

Parents who meet the conditions of escort should, under the guidance of the staff, do a good job of personal protection, implement protective measures such as standard wearing of masks, time-sharing meals, and not sharing household items with children, and strictly abide by various management systems.

Ms. Li told reporters that she was very anxious when she accompanied her baby to the Shanghai Children's Center. "I found several doctors and kept expressing to them my willingness to go to the Fangcang shelter hospital." Later, after signing the notification promise After the book, Ms. Li and her son entered the "parent-child cabin" together.

The "Parent-Child Cabin" is an "original" parent-child co-isolation observation and treatment model created by the Shanghai Children's Center's medical team during the current round of Shanghai's new crown pneumonia epidemic.

Its appearance has brought warmth to many Shanghai families under the anxiety of the epidemic.

On March 29, the pediatric medical team of the Shanghai Pediatric Center went to the World Expo Exhibition Hall to participate in the medical work of the makeshift hospital. On the night of March 29, they began to treat asymptomatic and mildly infected patients with the new coronavirus. The age range of the patients was initially determined to be 4 years old to 18 years old.

Since children are a special group and need more physical and mental care, the medical team decided to adopt the "parent-child treatment" model at that time, that is, children can be accompanied by at least one parent into the cabin.

On the evening of April 4, the medical team of the Shanghai Children's Center was transferred from the "reorganization system" of the Expo makeshift hospital to the new International Expo Center makeshift hospital with more beds and larger.

This time, the medical team of the Shanghai Children's Center obtained the approval of the superior to formally adopt the "concentrated parent-child treatment" model, making it clear that "parents are allowed to accompany in this ward".

In just two days, nearly 1,000 beds in the "Parent-Child Cabin" have been fully occupied.

In this cabin, parents and children are observed and treated together. The doctors of the Shanghai Children's Center are responsible for the children's rescue work. They cooperate with the Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital and the Hubei Medical Team who joined later.

The lower age limit for admission of children has been relaxed from 4 to 2 years old.

From April 4 to June 14, the ward of the Shanghai Children's Medical Center's medical team has treated more than 2,200 people infected with the new coronavirus. Among the more than 800 parent-child families, families with children under the age of 7 accounted for more than half.

The "parent-child cabin" is full of warmth.

Considering that nearly half of the school-aged children in the parent-child shelter, the shelter has opened the wireless network, and the medical team has specially opened up a self-study space, and prepared necessary stationery, simple small desks, etc.

For children who need to print learning materials, the medical team provides "homework and test paper printing" services at any time.

For young children, the medical team recruits suitable toys to distribute; for children who have emotional problems because they cannot adapt to the environment, the psychiatrist in the medical team will evaluate and provide psychological counseling and parent education in a timely manner.

At the same time, encourage children to go outside and distribute calcium tablets, which not only promotes bone development, but also helps to regulate emotions.

Since April, the "parent-child cabin" has become a "shared study room", and the children are studying hard.

When class is over, the children will also "hang around", ask each other which school they are from, and add WeChat to each other; some children in the lower grades also ask the children in the upper grades with questions.

The collective life in the cabin includes, but is not limited to, discussing homework in groups of three or five, skipping rope in a specific space, kicking the shuttlecock, and pulling the "big white" to chat and take photos... Zhu Ping, a nurse in the "parent-child cabin", introduced that the children in the cabin He has a very close relationship with the medical staff. "When measuring body temperature, they will take the initiative to raise their foreheads; when testing nucleic acid, they open their mouths wide, which is very cooperative with our work."

A reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily noticed that the "parent-child shelter" was announced late among all shelters in Shanghai, and it was the only shelter in Shanghai that had "no shifts." On the 28th, he was on duty until the cabin was closed.

Hu Renjie participated in the party class of the square cabin held by the temporary party branch of the medical team in the parent-child square cabin, and dressed in white to explain what the new crown virus is to the children.

While lecturing, he also had to chat with the children. "They like to communicate the most. They do the flow adjustment for themselves and communicate with each other under what circumstances they contracted the virus."

The children in the "Parent-Child Cabin" have not missed a festival.

During the "May 4th" Youth Day, Hu Renjie organized young medical staff and the children in the cabin to watch various learning videos and learn the general secretary's speech. Everyone wrote a letter to their future self, family and friends, introducing Your current situation and future plans.

On the Dragon Boat Festival, they ate the love dumplings donated by all walks of life.

On Children's Day on June 1, the Chongming District Committee of the Youth League and the Chongming Pomegranate Seed Public Welfare Foundation sponsored Hu Renjie to buy a cake for each of the 60 children who were in the cabin at that time.

Some children with special needs handed small notes to the medical staff, and their funny eggs and lollipops also arrived on time on June 1.

"This experience, whether for our medical staff, or for those children and their parents, may be a once in a lifetime experience. We cannot leave regrets for ourselves and our children." Hu Renjie said.
