International documents on communication platforms about appointing an imam of a mosque who suffers from severe mental schizophrenia have sparked a wide wave of controversy, especially after it was circulated among people and worshipers about the illogical or natural behavior and practices of the imam of the mosque.

Documents published by local media issued by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Sanctuaries, circulated on social media, revealed that a committee in the ministry approved the appointment of a person suffering from chronic schizophrenia, as an imam in one of the mosques in the capital, Amman.

And according to what the documents showed, the person started his work in one of the mosques in the Abu Nseir area, in June of last year, in return for a monthly reward at the expense of the Da`wah Fund of 260 dinars.

And the report of the examination report of the regional medical committee in the capital, Amman, showed that the person had chronic mental schizophrenia, and accordingly the committee decided to determine the percentage of disability as 80%, which means a permanent mental disability that does not enable him to qualify for work.
