The ban on horsehair crab fishing in Eruption Bay was lifted on the 20th, and the first landing was carried out in Oshamambe Town, southern Hokkaido.

At the Oshamambe fishing port, around 8 am on the 20th, fishermen took down baskets containing hair crabs one after another from the fishing boats that returned from fishing and landed them for the first time.

The crabs were sorted by size and weighed, and the catch on the first day was more than 100 kg.

For resource conservation, horsehair crabs in the eruption bay are allowed to be taken only by males with a shell width of 8 cm or more, and the fishing season and overall catch are predetermined.

According to the local fishermen's cooperative, the landing of large-sized hair crabs is decreasing year by year, and there are many small crabs.

Horsehair crab fishing in Eruption Bay will continue until July 12.
