The delivery boy Zhou Jiaxiang is confident that he can deliver food to any location within a 3-kilometer delivery range within 10 minutes.

"Running" on the road, he paid hard and sweat, but also gained inspiration and growth.

Last year, he was promoted to assistant stationmaster, who was among the best in the number of orders sent.

Life will not disappoint those who work hard. This is the story of Zhou Jiaxiang's struggle, and it is also the epitome of the 7 million delivery boys who use labor to create happiness.

  "Hello, takeaway has arrived."

Every time there is a knock on the door of a customer, the words "self-reporting the door" will blurt out from Zhou Jiaxiang's mouth like a conditioned reflex.

Zhou Jiaxiang, 26, joked that his name was becoming "takeaway" and that his real name seemed to "disappear".

This is Zhou Jiaxiang's daily life, and it is also the daily life of the 7 million takeaway brothers across the country.

At 11:50 noon, Zhou Jiaxiang had just entered the store to pick up a takeaway for delivery, and the mobile phone rang a new order prompt.

When he clicked on the order page, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief. The new order was in the store next door.

He glanced at the order information. There were 25 minutes left for the new order and 18 minutes left for the previous order.

"There's enough time." He is confident that he can deliver food to any location within a 3-kilometer delivery range within 10 minutes.

Zhou Jiaxiang is a food delivery worker at Swan Lake Station in Hefei, Anhui, Meituan. In the past three years, he has delivered more than 50 orders and walked more than 20,000 steps almost every day.

Last year, Zhou Jiaxiang, who was consistently ranked in the top 3 in the site, was promoted to assistant site manager, which is an affirmation of his hard work.

"Life will not fail those who work hard," he said.

  race against time

Zhou Jiaxiang still remembers the panic when he received the first takeout order.

Although an old rider took him to familiarize himself with the order receiving software and order delivery process, he couldn't help but feel uneasy as the time on the order kept decreasing.

He had never felt anxious about time before, and suddenly realized, "There is nothing more stressful than the countdown on the phone screen."

Zhou Jiaxiang's delivery time for each order is mostly within 30 minutes, and some are only about 20 minutes.

"This job is a race against time." Zhou Jiaxiang said.

Speed is the "standard" in every deliveryman's "ability toolkit".

It is easy to get started with food delivery, but if you want to deliver more, the overall quality of the delivery boy will be tested.

Not only to be familiar with the route, but also to have mental and physical strength.

For Zhou Jiaxiang, the most fearful thing is to receive several orders at the same time in one store, but because the merchants are slow in serving meals, the delivery time is squeezed.

However, this happens almost every day.

Sometimes, Zhou Jiaxiang will be stunned, and he will send the list in his hand first and then come back to pick it up, "It's better to run than to wait, and it doesn't matter if you run a few more times."

"I don't pick orders, I will deliver them whenever and wherever they are." When he first entered the business, Zhou Jiaxiang delivered fewer orders than others, but he refused to admit defeat. Willing to rest at 12 o'clock in the evening.

The slow delivery of the food by the merchant, the fall on the way, and the unreasonable order distribution... These may all lead to Zhou Jiaxiang's delivery overtime, but he never clicks "delivery" in advance without the customer's consent.

"I really want to make a name for myself, but I never cross the 'red line'." In Zhou Jiaxiang's heart, he has a strong sense of rules.

Being recognized and respected is a kind of happiness

Summer and winter are the seasons with the most takeaway orders, and it is also the hardest time for Zhou Jiaxiang.

"Sweat almost soaks the clothes in summer, and sometimes the clothes don't get warm even after wearing them for a day in winter." However, what worries Zhou Jiaxiang the most is the rainstorm, "On the way of riding the bike, the rain hits my face, and I can't keep my eyes open. open."

For a delivery guy, rainstorms often mean "popping orders".

Once, when the ground was slippery, Zhou Jiaxiang fell to the ground before he could brake, and his elbow was rubbed.

He didn't care about the pain, he got up quickly to check whether the takeout was spilled, and finally, delivered the meal to the customer on time.

Zhou Jiaxiang said that in this case, almost no delivery boy would give priority to treating the wound. Even if the injury was serious, he would contact the site as soon as possible and request to transfer the order.

Sometimes, customers will write a note on the order: "Don't worry, pay attention to safety." There are also customers who handed a bottle of drink after taking the takeaway, "threatened" and said: "If you don't take it, I will give you a bad review!" Such a warm moment will always make Zhou Jiaxiang feel that his profession is recognized and respected, which is a kind of happiness.

After becoming the assistant to the stationmaster, Zhou Jiaxiang also needs to be responsible for the order scheduling of more than 70 deliverymen in the whole station during the peak hours of lunch and evening. .

"For example, there are 4 orders on the rider's hand in the same direction, but one order is in the other direction. At this time, the orders in different directions need to be transferred to other riders who are on the way." Zhou Jiaxiang explained that the rider encountered an accident on the road. In some cases, site scheduling coordination is also required.

"The order from Yintai City has been transferred to you. Go and deliver it."

  "okay, got it."

Putting down the receiver, Zhou Jiaxiang stared at the information of each courier and order on the computer screen, ready to answer calls at any time. Often, he would answer hundreds of calls a day.

Life will not fail those who work hard

Takeaway spills, timeouts, violations, bad reviews... any of them may make takeaway riders run in vain.

There will be various problems in food delivery, but Zhou Jiaxiang always said: "Things will always be solved, and difficulties are not worth mentioning."

Zhou Jiaxiang's home is in a community not far from the site. The house was bought for him by his grandparents who saved money.

Zhou Jiaxiang's father died early, and it has always been the driving force for him to "run" so that his grandparents can live a better life.

Every month, Zhou Jiaxiang can take two days off, but he never takes a break.

"When I feel tired, I apply to go to work later in the morning, and sleep a little longer to be considered a rest." Because he has a goal in mind, Zhou Jiaxiang does not feel particularly hard.

The site where Zhou Jiaxiang is located has more than 70 riders, and the daily delivery volume is more than 3,000.

A skilled rider can send more than 40 orders per day, and the monthly salary can be more than 10,000 yuan.

This is also the main reason why many young people, including Zhou Jiaxiang, choose the takeaway industry.

Because of the family, the young Zhou Jiaxiang went out to work early.

Before 2019, he ran a small auto repair shop with a decent income.

However, this job made him suffer from back pain and had to change careers.

After several considerations, he chose the relatively free delivery industry.

When he was still an auto repair apprentice, Zhou Jiaxiang once saw a child pass by in front of the store without an adult accompanying him.

He chased after him subconsciously and found that it was a lost child.

With his help, the child found the parent.

This kindness has also been brought to him on the way to deliver food, and he will always lend a helping hand to those who need help on the road.

Zhou Jiaxiang also worked as a volunteer and participated in the community's epidemic prevention and control.

He feels that these efforts outside of work are his responsibility and their value.

When celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, the delivery boy, as a representative of the new profession, appeared in the mass parade square in Tiananmen Square; in 2021, the Shanghai delivery boy Song Zengguang became the first delivery rider to be awarded the National May 1st Labor Medal... ...These new changes make Zhou Jiaxiang full of vision for the future: "The promotion channel of the site is very smooth, and life will not disappoint those who work hard. Maybe one day I can also become a webmaster."
