An Iranian thief in India steals his victims with a malicious trick

Indian police have arrested an Iranian citizen who impersonated an intelligence agent with the aim of stealing foreign nationals, deluding them that he was checking their bags for his work in the fight against drugs and currency counterfeiting.

And "sbotnik" quoted the "Indian Express" newspaper that the accused and his companions were often targeting foreign nationals near large hospitals.

The police indicated that the accused, Hossein Razafard Ahmed, 47, and his companions were arrested for committing robberies, and the police said that they recovered the amount of $2,000, 4,000 Sudanese pounds, 28,000 Iranian riyals and some Indian coins from his possession.

The thief was revealed when a couple reported the theft of 50,000 rupees and $6,500 in front of a hospital, as they were returning from the hospital when they were stopped by a man in a car who introduced himself as a senior officer in an intelligence agency.

The thief checked their bags, saying that it was a DEA exercise to monitor drugs and counterfeit currency and left them after some time, but the couple later realized they had lost all the money in the bag.

A senior police officer said that the complainant came to India on a medical visa to receive treatment, and that police teams set out following the report to collect clips from surveillance cameras near the scene of the accident to identify the car and its owner.

The owner of the car was identified near the hospital and on its data plate, and when the police contacted the owner of the car, he said that he sold it to a businessman.


Razavard Ahmed admitted that he committed thefts with his accomplices, and said he came to India, last month, where he and his two friends wanted to make money by targeting foreign nationals.
