Approximately 1,200 residents around the U.S. Army Yokota Air Base in Tokyo have complained about health hazards caused by flight noise, and have filed a complaint against the government to suspend the flight of the U.S. military transport aircraft "Osprey" during the day and at night and to compensate for damages. I woke up at the Tachikawa branch of the Tokyo District Court.

A total of 1282 residents in the vicinity of Yokota Air Base, such as Hachioji City, Akishima City, and Fussa City, have filed complaints.

According to the complaint, the noise damage is becoming more serious due to the deployment of the U.S. military transport aircraft "Osprey" deployed at Yokota Air Base. We are also calling for the aircraft to suspend night flights from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am the next day, and to compensate for damages in the past three years and until the noise is gone.

The plaintiffs say, "I want the country to know that the noise caused by the Osprey and other factors has blocked the family members and caused great damage to their health. I want to regain the quiet sky."

Regarding the noise damage around Yokota base, while a ruling was finalized last year to order the government to compensate more than 112 million yen for a trial filed by a different group of residents, the suspension of military aircraft flight and the future The Supreme Court has decided to dismiss the residents' appeal for compensation for the damages.
