During a police chase through downtown Cologne early on Saturday morning, a young man rammed his car into a traffic light pole, injuring two pedestrians.

While one of the men was being treated at the scene, the other injured man had to be taken to a hospital for treatment, police said on Sunday.

With the help of passers-by, the emergency services were able to prevent the 20-year-old driver and his 23-year-old passenger from escaping.

According to a patrol, the accident car was noticed because it drove against the direction of travel in a one-way street.

According to the information, the 20-year-old ignored several red lights during the pursuit.

The wild ride ended when the young man tried to overtake two waiting cars at another red traffic light.

He lost control of his car and crashed into the traffic light pole.

After the arrest, a blood sample was taken from the 20-year-old.

It was also determined that he did not have a valid driver's license.

In addition, the mobile phones of the driver and front passenger were confiscated because they are said to have streamed the chase live on an internet platform.
