It is estimated that at least 2000 pigs were killed in a fire that burned three buildings at a pig farm in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture on the morning of the 19th.

At around 6:40 am on the 19th, an employee reported to the fire department that "the building is on fire" at the pig farm "Hirano Nasu Farm" in Nasu Town.



The fire was extinguished about three and a half hours after the report, but police said that three of the six piggery houses were almost completely burned down.



No one was injured in the fire, but at least 2000 pigs in captivity are believed to have died.



The police are going to investigate the cause of the fire.



The site is an area dotted with fields in the mountains and there are no houses nearby.
