China News Agency, Liuzhou, June 18 (Reporter Meng Mingming) "I have never encountered such a terrible thing in my life!" Wei Yun, a 60-year-old villager this year, recalled the mudslide that occurred at 4 am on the 18th, and still had lingering fears.

At about 4 a.m. that day, a debris flow occurred in Gudu Village, Xiangfen Township, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, Liuzhou City, Guangxi, and five villagers were buried.

As of press time, 4 of the 5 people who lost contact have been found, all of whom have died.

A reporter from China News Agency drove from Liuzhou City to the incident site that morning. After entering the mountainous road section, there were road collapses everywhere, and vehicles could not pass through. In the end, they had to go on foot.

At about 13 o'clock, the reporter rushed to the village where the incident occurred, and from a distance, they saw Qundan Village in the middle of the mountain. A stream flows out of the mountains and just passes through the center of the village.

Wei Yun's house in the village is right next to the stream, and a large number of stones brought by the mudslide are piled up beside the house.

"This creek is usually a dry ditch with no water. I didn't expect such a big mudslide." Wei Yun pointed to a pile of rocks in front of his house and said that there was a flood at 2 a.m. that day, but it soon disappeared. It subsided, and the mudslide occurred around 4 o'clock.

"The sound was like thunder, rumbling and terrifying!"

At Wei Yun's home, a thick layer of sand and gravel was left after the accident.

Except for being hit by water, Wei Yun's house was basically not damaged.

But several other families were not so lucky, with one house nearly razed to the ground and others badly damaged.

Huge boulders and sediments washed away and buried the house by the impact of the current.

The reporter saw at the scene that firefighters and armed police officers and soldiers were carrying out rescue operations. Because it is located in a mountainous area, large-scale machinery could not enter, and rescuers could only search and rescue the rocks and debris with bare hands or some light tools.

Under the impact of huge water flow and stones, the foundations of many houses in Qundantun became loose and became dilapidated houses.

The instant mudslide washed away the vehicles parked by the villagers outside the house.

At the foot of Cuntun Mountain, several motorcycles and cars were washed into the ditch by the water.

"Recent rainstorms have continued, and we have also sent early warning information to each villager through WeChat, but we did not expect to encounter such a catastrophic disaster." Xiao Shaolong, director of the village committee of Gudu Village, said that the cadres of the village committee inspected the river that night, and went door-to-door to remind people along the river. The villagers were evacuated, but a mudslide occurred unexpectedly.

Villager Wei Yun's mobile phone shows that since June 17, he has received 4 warning messages, including text messages and WeChat reminders.

At present, the scene has been raining non-stop, search and rescue is still in progress.
