At about 4:00 on the 18th, a fire broke out in the ethylene glycol plant of Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Chemical Department.

At present, the fire at the scene has been brought under control and protective burning is being implemented.

  It is reported that after the fire broke out, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical simultaneously launched an environmental emergency plan, and continued to conduct environmental monitoring on the company's factory boundary and external areas, and the monitoring of volatile organic compounds was normal.

Arrangements have been made to strengthen the sampling and monitoring of rainwater outlets, and no impact on the surrounding water environment has been found.

At present, the fire at the scene has been effectively controlled and protective burning is being implemented.

  After the fire broke out, the Shanghai 119 Command Center quickly dispatched rescue forces such as Jinshan, Fengxian, and the Chemical Industry Zone to the scene to fight the fire.

Relevant personnel of the Fire Rescue Detachment of Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone said that as of 9:00 on the 18th, the fire was basically under control, but it was difficult to deal with, and it is expected that it may still burn protectively for a period of time.

  According to preliminary information, one person was killed in the fire.
