All rural roads in the Sichuan Malkang 6.0 earthquake-stricken area have been restored to traffic

  Xinhua News Agency, Chengdu, June 17 (Reporter Wang Xi) The reporter learned on the 17th from a press conference on the earthquake relief work of the Malkang 6.0 earthquake swarm in Sichuan Province that on June 10, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Malkang City, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The highest intensity of the swarm earthquake was 8 degrees. It caused 113,950 people in 5 counties (cities), 68 townships (towns) including Malkang City, and 6 people were injured. No people were missing or killed.

At present, all 81 rural roads in the disaster-damaged area have been restored to traffic, emergency communication, power supply and water supply have been restored, and the living materials of the masses are adequately guaranteed.

  At 16:00 on the 17th, the Quanzhou senior high school entrance examination was successfully completed. According to the results of the safety appraisal of schools in the disaster area, except for the seven schools in Malkang City, which have not resumed classes for the time being, other schools in the disaster area have resumed classes.

  After the earthquake, the state and Sichuan province, cities and counties quickly launched the earthquake emergency response, urgently mobilized more than 7,500 rescue workers to the disaster area, and organized the transportation of 71,670 urgently needed relief materials such as tents, quilts, food, and drinking water.

As of now, one of the six injured people has been cured and discharged, and the remaining five are in stable condition and are receiving rehabilitation treatment.

A total of 85,204 people were transferred, 5,249 people were urgently transferred and resettled, and 52 centralized resettlement points were established.

Carrying out emergency assessment of housing safety, a total of 9,548 houses were inspected, of which 1,869 houses were prohibited from being used and 3,028 houses were restricted.

According to preliminary statistics, as of 0:00 on the 17th, the total direct economic loss caused by the disaster was about 2.005 billion yuan.

  It is understood that at 12:00 on June 17, the Aba Prefecture Emergency Committee terminated the second-level emergency response to the earthquake, and the focus of the next work will be adjusted from rescue and disaster relief to transitional resettlement and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
