Recently, in the Huzhu Beishan National Forest Geological Park in Qinghai, when the staff of Huzhu Beishan Forest Farm recovered infrared camera data in Tanzigou, they found the image data of the national first-class protected wild animal "jackal".

This is also the first time that the activity of this rare species has been recorded in Beishan Forest in recent years.

Jackals, similar in size to dogs but smaller than wolves, take mountains and hills as their main habitats. They are typical mountain animals. They live in groups and are good at hunting.

In 2012, it was included in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

In recent years, with the implementation of the natural forest protection project of Beishan Forest Farm, the biodiversity index has been continuously improved, and images of snow leopards, red deer, whooper swans and other species have been recorded one after another.

Since July 2020, the Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Huzhu Beishan Forest Farm have jointly carried out a wildlife infrared camera monitoring survey, and wolves and jackals were found in the monitoring, indicating that the biodiversity richness and integrity of the region have improved.
