French cinema legend Jean-Louis Trintignant dies at 91

The ex-wife of French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant said that Trentinian, who began his artistic career at the same time with Brigitte Bardot in 1956, died Friday at the age of 91.

"He was an exceptional person," Nadine Trintignan told BFM television.

Trentinian won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1969 for his role in the film (Z) directed by Costa Javras, and also won the Cesar Award for Best Actor for his role in the film Amore (Love) by Michael Haneke in 2013.

Trentinian was one of the leading actors of the "new wave" movement in French cinema, along with Jean-Pierre Le and Jean-Paul Belmondo.

He participated in acting in more than 130 films, including the film A Man and a Woman, which won the Palme d'Or at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival.
