Prison is a man's world.

In 2020, just over 700,000 women were incarcerated according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) for a prison population of more than 90% male.

A situation that penalizes these women and makes them invisible, in France, only two establishments are entirely dedicated to them: the penitentiary center for women in Rennes and the remand center for women in Versailles.

Most often, they are therefore detained in specific sections within men's prisons.

Who are these women in prison?

Is their daily life different from that of men?

Between violence, recidivism and reintegration, what are the possible paths for a female prisoner?
