To contribute to solving the food problem, a Tokushima venture company working on product development using edible crickets gave a special class at high school, and students cooked and tasted food using powdered crickets.

Gurirasu, a venture company from Tokushima University, is developing products using edible crickets and other products in an attempt to contribute to solving the increasingly serious food problems in the world.

On the 16th, company employees visited Komatsushima Nishi High School in Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture for a special class, and cooking training was held with food department students using edible crickets as ingredients.

In the training, we had to make meat buns, and the students kneaded the dough with cricket powder, stuffed with wild boar meat, and steamed it.

The students tasted the finished "cricket meat bun" and discussed their impressions, and it was well received, such as "It smells fragrant."

A student who participated in the cooking training said, "At first, I was shy about crickets, but when I tried it, it was delicious and I wanted to try another dish."

After that, a company employee gave a lecture on food issues in class and explained that insect food such as crickets is expected as a foodstuff to supplement protein deficiency in the food crisis.

At this high school, a menu made from crickets is included in the school lunch.
