The African Fund for Innovation in Publishing, launched by the International Publishers Association, in cooperation with Dubai Cares, the global humanitarian organization, revealed the names of the five African projects that won this year’s grant, with a total value of $200,000.

This is the third group of projects to win grants from the fund totaling $800,000, which has been presented by Dubai Cares over several years, and this year focuses on promoting a love of reading among blind children and youth on the African continent.

The Committee of the African Fund for Innovation in Publishing, chaired by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, and comprising a group of experts from the publishing sector in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia and South Africa, supervised the selection of the winning projects from the works nominated by 18 African countries.

In addition to its interest in promoting a culture of community reading, and facilitating children and young people’s access to diverse sources of knowledge, the African publishing sector focuses on textbooks, which constitute about 90% of its sales, which makes the grants of the African Innovation Fund for Publishing a supportive tool for the sector in its endeavors to get out of the The repercussions of the “Corona” pandemic, which affected the ability of governments to purchase textbooks.
