After Haute-Savoie last week, it is the turn of part of Savoie to be placed on drought alert.

The sectors of the Savoyard foreland, the watersheds of Guiers, Lake Bourget and Chéran are concerned, indicates the site of the prefecture.

The rest of the department is kept in a situation of “vigilance”.

"The high temperatures and low rainfall in the second half of May were highly detrimental to aquatic environments", details the establishment.

Measures to restrict water use have therefore been temporarily put in place.

Objective: preserve aquatic ecosystems and reserve water resources for priority uses.

Limited watering

Thus, withdrawals from watercourses or underground resources for domestic use are prohibited.

Just like the washing of vehicles, excluding car washes, and the filling of private swimming pools.

Finally, the watering of lawns, vegetable gardens, green spaces, stadiums and sports areas, including golf courses, is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
