Why such disaffection of girls in science courses?

In France and according to a note from the DEPP (Department of Evaluation, Prospective and Performance) of December 2021, only 40% of girls in their final year are still following the mathematics specialty in 2021, a figure down from 2020 (42%).

The number of girls in scientific preparatory classes is stable but does not exceed 30%.
Yet there are many openings in growth sectors and girls are potentially depriving themselves of good professional integration and a good salary.
